Audi Volkswagen Coding adaptions for electric vehicles

When we remanufacture electronic power steering racks, part of the process will be to reflash the base operating software. This will ensure that the steering rack operates correctly.

However, depending on the particular options present on a customer’s vehicle, that rely on a specific coding adaptation, it may require the long string coding in the EPS control module to be copied into the replacement rack that we supply. These coding adaptations cannot be carried out on the bench by us and can only be performed when the electric power steering rack is connected to a physical vehicle. Examples of adaptations (but not limited to) are Lane Assist and Collision Avoidance.

When using VDCS or VCP, the coding string is displayed. For example on an Audi A6 C7, the coding string is 101000010000.

Our recommendation us that the coding string is recorded from the original rack and this is copied into the replacement rack when fitted. This will ensure that any associated functions that reply on the EPS rack (module 44) will function correctly.
