Ford Transit Power Steering Racks

Ford Transit MK7 racks can suffer from a fault with the steering sticking in the straight ahead position, causing a slight resistance that then gives when more effort is applied.
This can also be accompanied by a knocking noise as the rack passes through the tight spot.
This is caused by the internal piston on the rack wearing a low spot in the rack body. The steering rack will need to be changed to cure this problem.
The fluid will need to be flushed several times to clean the system.
