VW UP, SKODA CITIGO and SEAT MII Power steering faults and fixes
The Volkswagen VW Up, the Seat MII and the Skoda Citigo From 2011 - April 2013 all use the same Electric Power Steering column, this was manufactured by a company called NSK.
After April 2013 the column was changed slightly and is now manufactured by TRW. The faults in both of these steering columns are exactly the same and require the same process to be taken.
The column can fail either intermitantly with is usually fixed by switching the ignition off and restarting the car, of it can also suffer and complete loss of power steering, in both instances the red steering wheel light will illuminate on the dash and the steering will be come very stiff and heavy.
The EPS column module can fail and stop communicating with the vehicle, we have also seen faults codes for a problem within the torque sensor.
The solution for these problems is to have the complete steering column for the VW UP,the Skoda Citigo and the Seat MII replaced. We sell a reconditioned unit that will NOT need any programming but the steering angle sensor will need to reset when fitting this part.
Below are the correct parts for all of these vehicles.
