In 2015 the Mini Clubman was undated to use a new type of electric steering rack, these units can fail in a number of ways, the can fail intermittantly with a restart of the vehicle the power steering may return. They can also become noisy when turning left to right. Either of these persistant faults will mean that the steering rack will need to be replaced.
